Brentwood Gold Dust, owned and handled by Kim Schrotenboer, won the 13 male class this afternoon during the final day of the Sturgeon Creek licensed brace trial. Gold Dust was back in the seventh slot when second series was called. He was moved into the second spot after second series after defeating his brace mate, Meyers Rusty II in a close contest. Gold Dust than defeated J-Line Timerthy in third series to take home the laurels.

Kim Schrotenboer was real pleased with Gold Dusts performance although he didnt have much to say. He lets his dogs performance do the talking for him. Kim did say his little red and white male was back high at the Heartland Federation derby winners stake. He also said he was very proud of the run Gold Dust put on from the back in third series to win the trial today at Sturgeon Creek.

The entries were way up in the little male class. 34 entries were entered before the balls were rolled this morning. Sturgeon Creek President, Chuck Schuler, Jr. said it was a record entry for little males since Sturgeon Creek moved to a summer trial instead of a fall trial several years ago.

Chuck was also pleased with the weather. He said, it was wonderful for July with good running days for the dogs. He also jokingly said he was glad the trial was over because now all the other handlers would take his buddy, Duane Root away from his home club out onto the licensed trial circuit and get him out of his hair. I guess Duane continually harasses Chuck.

The total entries for the four days of trials were 138. The club membership was well pleased with that figure.

The Michigan licensed trial circuit now moves to the Michiana Beagle Club near Edwardsburg. The trial starts this coming Saturday, July 26 when the 13 females are run.
