The 10,000 member Southern Kingfish Association, the largest saltwater tournament trail in the world nominated Stan Jarusinski for their inaugural Hall of Fame. This is a list of his accomplishments:
2000 website www.captainstanman.us was started, 8,000 to 10,000 visitors per day teaching others to fish via chat forums and a library.
Rated as the "most visited privately supported fishing website".
2001 started the Onslow Bay Open King Mackerel Tournament. In 6 years, $24,000 to deploy concrete material on 342, the Onslow Bay Saltwater Fishing Club Artificial Reef, $105,000 to Kids Charities.
2001 appointed to the Yamaha Factory Saltwater Fishing Team, only 12 in the U. S.
11/2/2002 caught a 50.50 king mackerel at the Haterras KMT, the only 50 lb. King caught in competition in an Atlantic ocean tournament in 2002 on a 23 Class boat.
November 2002 won the U. S. Anglers Championship. On day one caught a 36 lber, on day 2 an early 38lber took the lead and we cinched the win later in day 2 with a 46 lber, it was the 2nd heaviest king caught in the tournament.
November 2003. 15th at the SKA National Championships, Biloxi, Miss. in the 23 Class.
February 2003. Started the Onslow Bay Saltwater Fishing Club which is involved in KIDS charities, keeping our inlets open, securing water access; especially boat launching ramps. On 6/23/07 the club will host the first annual Stevenson Chevrolet/Onslow Bay Redfish Tournament.
February 2004. Saltwater Sportsman an international fishing magazine, published an article written by Joel Arrington, "Kingmaker".
March 2004. No federal funds to dredge Bogue Inlet. Started a "Save Bogue Inlet" initiative which grew into a regional plan to "Save Our Inlets" which then joined forces with the American Beach Preservation Association that was renamed to a state wide organization named the N. C. Beach Inlet and Waterway Association. Serving as a Board of Director since it's start and also am a member of the Inlet Committee.
November 2004. The Southern Kingfish Association presented him with their annual "Sportsman of the Year" award. 2nd SKA Division 2 Championship by 6 ounces.
3/3/05 organized the "Save Our Inlets" meeting to which over 750 people attended at the Civic Center. Attended by U.S. Senators and Reps., N. C.Senators and Reps., County Commissioners, Mayors, etc. Several hundred were turned away when capacity was reached.
In 5 days they received $1,000,000 in emergency funding to get our inlets dredged.
May 2005 Swansboro Rotary Club presented Stan with the "Service Above Self Award" at their Annual King Mackerel Tournament "for dedicated service to save our inlets".
February 2006. Ressurected the 75 unit boat launching ramp at Cameron Langston Bridge on route 58 with the help of State Representative George Cleveland. .
April 2006. The November 2005 Southern Kingfish Association National Championship was canceled due to high winds, was rescheduled for April 2006 in Ft. Pierce, Fla. He caught a 42.47 on day one and a 39.91 on day two to win the 23 Class National Championship. Had the 2nd highest total aggregate in the entire tournament breaking the old Atlantic ocean record for the 23 Class with 82.38 lbs.
February 2007. Saltwater Sportsman published another article by Joel Arrington, "Kings Ransom".
February 2007. Appointed to the Faculty by George Poveromo for the Saltwater Sportsman National Seminar Series attended by over 750 in Wilmington, NC.
May 2007. Nominated to the Southern Kingfish Association Hall of Fame.
May 2007.The Carteret County Commissioners and their Water Access Committee both approved the boat launching ramp plan, it is being submitted to the State DOT for approval.
