It is with a heavy heart we report the death of Glenn Matthews of Monk's Creek Beagles, who was being treated for cancer. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Jeanne and his family. Beagling has lost another great beagler and the South is in mourning of the loss of a very dedicated, successful and hard working beagler. We received the following from Richard Butterworth.

Glenn Matthews passed away Sunday night. The Funeral Home is J. C. Collins Funeral Home, South Carol Street, Villa Rica, GA. Visitation will be Tuesday night from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral will be Wednesday, at 2:00 p.m. at the Utopia Baptist Church on Tyson Rd off Hwy 78 between Villa Rica and Douglasville.

Mr. William Glenn Matthews, age 80 of Villa Rica, pased away Monday, February 20, 2012 in Tanner Medical Center, Carrollton.

Mr Mathews was born October 1, 1931 in Paulding County the son of the late Gilbert Glenn Matthews and Willie Mae Townsend Matthews. He worked as a Truck driver for Coca Cola for 25 years and was a member of Utopia Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Matthews was an avid Beagler and won numerous field trials. He was the president of Kennesaw Mountain Beagle Club since 1983. He had finished numerous Field Champions under his kennel name of Monk's Creek. Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Pearson Matthews, children, Renee Matthrews O'Hearn, Atlanta and Dave Bottoms, Marietta. Grandchildren Brandon Limuti, Nashville, Tn, Jason Bottoms, Navarra Fl, Rachel O'Hearn, Marietta, Nevin O'Hearn, Marietta, Alana Bottoms, Marietta, Devon Bottoms, Marietta, Kara O'Hearn, Atlanta, and Keira Bottoms, Marietta. Sisters Mildred Smith, Villa Rica, Jane Thomason, Villa Rica, Joyce Fuller, Villa Rica. Brothers Bobby Matthews, Villa Rica, and Eddie Matthews, Villa Rica, and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 2 o'clock from Utopia Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev.Lennard Chambers and Rev.Chad Long officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 5 until 8 P.M.
