Congratulations Ed Galvin and Shenvalee Patsy Jo on winning Mountain State! Mountain State had 33 15 females on Saturday, May 31st under Judges Neil Roberts and Ed White. In todays standards, everyone was elated to have 33 entries, which helped Mountain State to have a successful trial and everyone was given a chance to prove what they had.
The judges called back 8 females for 2nd Series as follows:
1st Brace-Halleys Blue Bonnet and Ciscos Red Gold
2nd Brace-Mon Valley Demi Rose and Carvers Bay Miss Sheila
3rd Brace-Shenvalee Patsy Jo and Surefoot Sydney
4th Brace-Ciscos Brown Pearl and Rockfish Valley Maggie
Things werent going as planned, as conditions changed in the afternoon when the sun and heat came out. The first couple braces lost and the 3rd Brace put on a run and they went to the top. 3rd Series was Surefoot Sydney and Ciscos Brown Pearl. Pearl defeated Sydney so 4th series was Shenvalee Patsy Jo and Ciscos Brown Pearl and the next brace was Surefoot Sydney and Mon Valley Demi Rose and that was field trial!
Now what makes the win for Shenvalee Patsy Jo so special, wasnt only her performance, but her owner, Ed Galvin who resides in Virginia and beagling has taken a hit there; only travels that circuit and near by like West Virginia, Tri-City and Greene County, won his first license trial in 41 years. Ed just kept coming back, hanging in there and supporting beagling as he could. He was a very happy and proud man when he won the 15 Females at Mountain State, as he should be . Another positive to this wonderful day was the sportsmanship that was displayed. Everyone was pulling for Ed and Patsy Jo and they were as happy and proud for Ed and Patsy Joe as Ed and his friend, Everett Campbell (Rockfish Valley Beagles) was. It was really refreshing to have this kind of beagling and sportsmanship displayed, and we hope there is more to come. We thank everyone who came and supported the trial.
