National Brace Championship License Trlal

Coraopolis had everything ready for the National Brace Trial. Mother Nature did not cooperate as temps dropped and it rained all day. The club, grounds, and kennels were in great shape and we thank Coraopolis for hosting the National Brace Trial and all their hard work they put in all year long.

We opened with 42 15" Females under Judges, Jerry Nessinger and Kim Schrotenboer and 70 13" Females under Judges, Tim Beck and Jennings Ford. The 15" Females were run to completion and first series on the 13" Females were completed. 12 Females were called back for 2nd Series and the Judges will measure them around 7:30 a.m. We closed with 25 15" Males under Judges Jerry Nessinger and Kim Schrotenboer and 33 13" Males under Judges Tim Beck and H.J. Ford, which started after the completion of 13" Females for a total of 170 hounds. Between the Coraopolis License Trial and the National, 282 hounds were run the last 4 days.

We thank our special guests, Mark Cascio, Mike Luchetta and Barb Fawver from Purina, Steve and Bonnie Caldwell from Brace Beagle News, Jim Odle from the American Kennel Club.

We thank everyone who came and supported our trial. We thank our marshals, Jerry Gileot, Gary Bushmire, Waye Koelsch, John Capon, Jim Watson and everyone who joined in and helped beat brush, path watchers and cart drivers getting the dogs to the field. Rabbits have cooperated and looks like another successful National.

We thank Doby Gray and Peg Bushmire for doing breakfast and lunch every day. They always do a great job and kept things going for lunch as they came in to eat and sent lunch out to the field for the Judges and Marshals. We thank everyone for doing their part and making the trial a success. We thank Purina for sponsoring the banquet and doing the Steak Fry on Saturday night. We thank Bev Fleming, Carol Davis, Alicia Frye for doing the sides, Mark Cascio and Steve Luchetta for cooking the steaks, sausage and hot dogs.
